Huaxin Online :（Correspondent Liu Shuyuan Liu Jieyi ）On November 18, the selection of the 6th international college students' micro film festival was held in the Cod Academy of the Capital Normal University. After more than two month’s selection, the work “Seeking for the song” which created by our college’s project group called Five Sentence Ballad was standing out of more than 50000 entered films, and won the first prize of the documentary series video. It is said that, the international college students' micro film festival is the earliest, most influential, most professional micro film competition and it has the largest number of participants in China.
This competition includes several competition units, such as plot, micro video, documentary, advertisement and so on, and it has received more than 5000 works from colleges and universities at home and abroad. The director Zhan Yiming was very surprised that the work “Seeking for the song” could win the first prize of the documentary series video. He said “At first, I think our work was pretty good, and it will be very satisfactory to get the second price, because I think the students from other universities may have more exquisite production than us”.
“Seeking for the song” was a film about the folk song scholar Liang Qiangang. It shows the audiences that Liang was devoted to the study of the less favored “Five Sentences ballad”, and even at the end of his life, he was disconnected from the family and immersed in the research. Ten years later, his families were separated. His granddaughter went on the journey of seeking for the song with the doubts of kinship and her vague childhood memories , meanwhile, seeking for a way that she and her grandfather can come to an accommodation with other family member.
To have a deep understanding about the “Five Sentences ballad”, the project group went to Enshi to observe the Five Sentences ballad’s development in folk. In the Sun River village, they visited Yang Shaobin, the cultural station master, Zhan Xinglan and Chen Hongrong , the local hill tribe singers. They also watched and shot the formal performance of the local Five Sentences ballad. I n downtown Enshi, they went to the daughter city, enjoyed the customs and culture of the local minorities and communicated with several professional balled inheritor. During the seven-day visit, they have filmed a lot of fresh material.
After they went back to Wuhan, the Five Sentences ballad project team contacted Liang Qiangang’s daughter --Liang Yan immeidately. Through her introduction, the project group interviewed Liang Qiangang’s several family members and friends while he was alive. Among them are luo Danqing, the vice chairman of the Hubei literary association, He Zuhuan, a famous storytelling artist. Zhao Guotai, the editor of Chang jiang literature and art publishing house, and many scholars from all walks of life. Through their memories of Liang, the project team get a more comprehensive understanding of Liang and his research--Five Sentences ballad .
When the shooting was finished, the project group began to do the editing work immediately. After more than a month of material arrangement and editing, the “Seeking for the song” finally came out. From the beginning of the collection of data, to the mid-term shooting, then to the editing, strenuous efforts has been made on this work, each one in this group has done their best. When knowing that the work was the first prize, they were surprised and joyful. “Seeking for the song” lived up to all expectations. ”Sure enough! There are returns to pay” Zhan Yiming said. He also said that there were still many shortcomings in the work, and they will continue to make further compliment to make the work better. And the story of seeking for the song is still in progress.

Zhan Yiming: Reviewing the entire process of creating，during the summer vacation, the tired figures of the shooting interviewers in rush and the hard time of editing the film from morning till night, all these scenes appeared vividly before me. There has been the frustration of being completely negated, there have been disputes over disagreements, and there has been a rush to catch up with deadline, too. But it has never occurred to me to give up. At every step, we step forward steadily, make promotion slowly but surely. This honor is indispensable to every team members' efforts, to the early foundation laid by senior school mates, to the constant instruction of the teachers, to the guide and full cooperation of the main character ‘s family and to the strongly support of the college! Along the whole way, the members are changing as well as the film, but the confidence to this team and the determination to this film are always the same. The way is arduous and long, however, the project of the Five Sentences ballad goes beyond that, and the story of seeking for the song is still in progress…
